Donations go to local teams on the ground throughout Israel, who personally bring shut-in Survivors needing food and medicine. They also befriend and spend time with everyone they reach out to. $45/month touches 1 survivor in this way for a month.
We are a Christian ministry which specifically works in the Land of Israel. We recognize that Israel is God's purposed land for the Jewish people according to the promise of Abraham by God Himself, and retold by Isaac and Jacob in the book of Genesis. We believe that God has a special covenant with His people Israel, His Land, and His Scriptures. Therefore our efforts to support Jews who were subject to the persecution they endured is not only humanitarian, but a definitive core value of what it means to be a Believer in Christ.
Funds received through Sariyd aid in several ways. Sariyd works in tandem with individuals who work in pairs to deliver food and medicine to the home of holocaust survivors. Many times we supplement food items on top of what the government of Israel provides for nutrition purposes. Our team members typically only work part time jobs, or are interns, so transportation, fuel, etc is also covered. We do have minimal administrative costs which typically run about 7-8%.
Yes, we are a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
Because survivors fall into a special class of people in Israel - there are 3 organizations which oversee their care, and all efforts to work with them must go through one of these. Congruently, they all require discretion when dealing with survivors as to protect their identities, locations, etc. So individual contact or revealing of full names is not possible.
However, if you join us on a future trip to Israel, you will be able to participate in daily activities and banquets which celebrate the survivors, meet survivors, have a meal with them and interact with them. Hearing their stories will be something you will never forget.
The Hebrew word sariyd (saw-reed) is used in the concept of a “surviving remnant” or “remainder” of a group God has chosen and preserved. They are the covenant people who are looking to God’s direction in obedience to His divine will working through them (Is 37:4, 32). They return to the Lord and experience the fullness of His salvation when others do not (Is 10:21-22; Mic 2:12).
$45/month guarantees one survivor receives everything they need in that month. This includes: food, medicine, companionship, cleaning of premises if needed, with either weekly or bi-weekly visits, depending upon the need of the survivor.
We do not give money directly to the survivors, only provide basic necessities for them and make sure they have their daily needs met through personal visits. 93%-94% of every dollar is used to fund these efforts.
We work mainly in Israel where over 150,000 survivors live. We do have a few teams in the Belarus as well.
While the effort to reach out to survivors has been in existence for several years, this initiative began in January 2020, just before the Covid-19 outbreak. We have found a cooperative effort with those on the ground attempting to provide this type of aid has been limited, our hope is that we can reach ALL the shut-in survivors in Israel.
